Eagles - Osprey and Hawks
Growing up in the '60's through the '70's, Bald Eagles were occasionally seen along the Mississippi river in southern Minnesota. Today their populations have increased dramatically, and now range outwards along streams and near lakes through out most of the state. Eagles and other types of raptor populations were effected by the use of ddt since the '40's until its ban in the late '60's. The alarming decline of the eagle population to the point of near distinction was a clear signal to mankind of the dangers of chemical use in agriculture. Only until recently was it made public of the dangers of ddt causing several forms of cancers to humans. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to these birds. This gallery is a tribute to the sacrifices of these creatures.
